wHAT IS KOMBUCHA?

Kombucha is a fermented drink made from sweetened tea and a specific culture known as a scoby. Scoby stands for ‘symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeasts’. The bacteria and yeasts convert the sugar into ethanol and acetic acid. The acetic acid is what gives kombucha its distinctive sour taste.

The sugar and caffeine are used all up in the fermentation process so don’t worry, it has very little (if any) caffeine or sugar in the final product.

A SCOBY is an acronym for symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast.  In short, it is beneficial bacteria and yeasts that work synergistically together to produce a certain type of ferment. Kombucha around the world is considered a healing drink and it has some amazing health benefits.
